Norton Door Controls’ SafeZone electromechanical closer/holder has been named one of 2010’s best new products by American monthly magazine Architectural Record.
SafeZone senses movement in the opening and holds the door open, allowing people to pass through in their own time without hindrance. Every year Architectural Record enlists a panel of experts to select the most exciting, cutting-edge products. This year, SafeZone was one of nine products shortlisted in the Windows/Door Hardware/Glazing category.
SafeZone features a programmable sensor that, uniquely, can be set to detect movement when people either enter or exit through a door, or both. Another point of difference is that the size of the safe zone and the sensor direction angle can be adjusted to meet the requirements of the application.
In addition, thanks to the multipoint electromechanical closer/holder, a door equipped with SafeZone can hold open at any degree once movement is detected.
The ability to fine-tune SafeZone’s settings means that it is ideal for doors that are frequently used by the physically disabled, the elderly or children. As a result, SafeZone can be used in a wide range of environments, including hospitals and health-care facilities, retirement and rest homes, schools and universities, auditoriums and performing arts centers, as well as houses of worship.
