Knowledge is key to energy savings

Challenge:

A common challenge when planning energy savings in our company premises is a lack of detailed knowledge about energy use in order to understand how improvements can be carried out.

Solution:

A cross-divisional pilot was conducted in all our Swedish sites to discover how each office and factory plus transportation contributes to our energy footprint. This can, for example, be energy used for machinery, ventilation systems, lighting or the fuel consumption of company vehicles.

Result:

Based on the information gathered, 20 activities to achieve improved energy efficiency were suggested. If all the proposed efficiency measures are carried out, they are estimated to result in a 5% saving in energy use in the company.

Additionally, the methodology used will serve as a foundation for a global ASSA ABLOY energy mapping framework.
