Global teamwork leads to a new door closer factory in Vietnam

ASSA ABLOY recently inaugurated its second state-of-the-art door closer factory in Hai Phong, Vietnam.

This new facility is the result of cross-divisional collaboration, with experts from the Americas, EMEIA, Pacific Northeast Asia (PNEA), and Greater China & Southeast Asia (GC&SEA) sharing decades of knowledge and defining manufacturing methods that would ensure quality, efficiency, and scalability.

“This project is a true testament of ASSA ABLOY’s ‘Together We’ Culture,” said Kin-Bond Wu, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Opening Solutions GC&SEA. ”We worked together to bring in the optimal manufacturing process for this facility through five main technology workstreams that addressed every important manufacturing step—Body, Piston, Pinion, Assembly, and Surface Treatment—ensuring the setup met both quality and efficiency standards.”

Spanning over 43,000 m², the state-of-the-art factory has the capacity to produce two million door closers in its first phase, with plans to double the output in coming years. With an initial focus on rack-and-pinion door closers, the production is set to evaluate other types based on customer demand in the future.
