Solar panels for sustainable power
Solar power provides sustainable energy with zero or minimal greenhouse gas emissions. That’s why our EMEIA division decided to invest further in solar photovoltaic (PV) installations in addition to the majority of its electricity already coming from renewable resources.
In 2022 we installed solar PV arrays in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Switzerland and Turkey. We have ongoing installations in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and more in scope in Germany and Poland.
This widespread deployment of solar PV panels at our sites across the EMEIA division is essential to achieving both our ambitious 2025 sustainability program and meeting our science-based targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Each solar PV installation covers up to 12 percent of the site’s electricity requirement, generating as much as 900 MWh of electricity annually and reducing CO2e emissions by up to 980 tons. This helps us to significantly reduce our Scope 1 & 2 greenhouse gas emissions.
In addition, solar PV plants are beneficial from a cost efficiency perspective, quickly generating savings and helping to reduce business risk as our sites are able to decrease their reliance on market energy prices.
The solar PV installations are just part of the ongoing sustainable transformation of our production facilities to make our sites efficient, environmentally friendly, and attractive to our people and our customers.
