Sustainability remains a growth driver for ASSA ABLOY
At the recent sustainability seminar, ASSA ABLOY presented the results of its completed 2025 sustainability program and introduced its new targets for the years ahead.
Since launching our first sustainability program in 2007, ASSA ABLOY has continued to take a business‑driven approach to environmental and social responsibility.
“We do not treat sustainability as something outside of our operation; rather, we integrate it into everything we do because we believe that when we integrate it, we can unlock both sales growth potential and efficiency,” said CFO Erik Pieder. “Combining these two aspects, we see sustainability as a part of accelerating our profitable growth.”
Erik noted that sustainability is embedded across the building blocks of ASSA ABLOY’s strategy. “Sustainability is marked out as one of the fundamental parts of our strategy house. But on top of that, it also is reflected in our vision, mission and each of the strategic objectives. Our previous sustainability programs have already shown that it is feasible to increase sales while reducing emissions. And in our next program, we will continue to make sure that growth and decarbonization will go hand in hand as we work on setting the foundation for long-term sustainable growth.”
The seminar also marked the launch of ASSA ABLOY’s fifth sustainability program, setting targets toward 2030. The new program raises ambition once again and broadens its scope across five focus areas: climate, operations, supply management, innovation and people. For context, the recently concluded fourth program focused on three areas: operations, supply management and people.
Head of Sustainability, Charles Robinson, then outlined progress against the 2019 baseline. He highlighted how the Group surpassed its operational goals, sharing examples that illustrated how growth has aligned with reduced waste and increased efficiency. Charles also provided updates on the science-based targets and ongoing projects addressing Scopes 1, 2 and 3.
CHRO, Allan Cooper, followed with updates on the people focus area and described how sustainability is reinforced throughout ASSA ABLOY’s culture. He covered progress in health and safety, diversity and talent, explaining both achievements and underlying initiatives.
Head of Product Sustainability, Anders Forslind, expanded on the role of innovation in the new sustainability program. He explained how the product sustainability process will support progress toward achieving our Scope 3 science-based target reductions, emphasizing innovation as a key contributor to future growth.
The seminar closed with a Q&A session, allowing participants to explore the focus areas in greater depth.
