Interlock NZ

ASSA ABLOY acquired Interlock in 2021, a leading manufacturer and distributor of window and door security hardware in New Zealand. Interlock had a proven track record of developing innovative products and had developed successful export to Japan, UK and the US.

The Interlock story

Interlock New Zealand was founded in 1961 by Wellingtonians Stuart Young and Ron Davis. The company began in a caravan in Breaker Bay, focusing on manufacturing window and door security hardware. Over the years, it grew into a leading exporter in its field. In 2001, Interlock was acquired by Swedish conglomerate ASSA ABLOY, the world's largest lock manufacturer.

Interlock's strength was in its innovative product and production technologies which have since contributed significantly to ASSA ABLOY's philosophies of cross learning, benchmarking and cross-selling. Interlock added a competitive range of window security products to its sister companies in the region.
