Sustainability in everything we do
Sustainability is integrated in everything we do and is a driver throughout our value chain. By growing our sustainable product offering and reducing our environmental footprint while ensuring a safe and healthy workplace, we contribute to creating a better world at the same time as we drive sales and optimise our operations.
Our Sustainability Journey
We are in our fourth sustainability program and are making strong progress towards our targets for water consumption, energy efficiency, CO2 emissions, chemical handling, health and safety, and audits of suppliers between 2020-2025.
As we work to complete the present program that will end in 2025, we are concurrently developing our fifth sustainability program to 2030 where we again will raise our ambition level. These programs complement our existing long-term climate commitment to science-based targets.
Science Based Targets initiative
From October 2020, ASSA ABLOY has joined the Science Based Targets initiative to further substantially reduce our greenhouse gas emissions across the entire value chain.
We believe that science-based targets will be beneficial for our business on several levels. By setting a net-zero target in line with a 1.5°C future, we are making a critical contribution to limiting the worst impacts of climate change.
- We will halve Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions in our own operations by 2030
- We will set ambitious Scope 3 emissions reduction targets
- We commit to net zero emissions across the whole value chain no later than 2050
- We have two years to develop our targets and have them validated by the Science Based Targets initiative body
Our Contribution towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals
The UN SDGs provide the global community with a roadmap for how to combat global challenges related to economic, social and environmental sustainability.
As the global leader in access solutions, ASSA ABLOY’s sustainability program is aligned with the objectives of the SDGs.
Our work has effects on many of the SDGs. For example, through our efforts to reduce water consumption, we also ensure water discharged has a negligible impact on oceans, rivers and wider biodiversity in line with the SDG 14, Life Below Water.
