Quality Engineer
Performs quality engineering/continuous improvement functions in support of total quality management using various tools. Support implementation of continuous quality improvement initiatives. Uses quality information systems to access, collect, analyze, and distribute results. Supports all aspects of the quality system, including planning, control, improvement, and the application of product and process control methods.
Works under general supervision of the Quality Director/Manager/Principal Quality Engineer. Takes corrective action(s) within agreed parameters and established precedents. Quality engineering activities cover a variety of products/processes which are controlled by detailed procedures and instructions. Within established parameters, recommends improvements or changes to enhance production quality in a preventive mode. Helps maintains a sustainable quality management system. Work can involve several projects and activities simultaneously.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:
- Supports root cause investigation and implementation of corrective actions.
- Participates in continuous improvement activities in product quality and manufacturability through effective use of LEAN tools.
- Assists with Product testing and evaluation to support product compliance.
- Support daily Quality related activities. i.e., Attend daily Production meeting.
- Perform evaluation of customer returns.
- Conducts quality audits, including process and finished goods audits.
- Helps troubleshooting and determine the underlying cause of electrical problems.
- Generate quality improvement suggestions and coach others to generate ideas. Assist with implementation of adopted suggestions.
- Support creation, modification & analysis of results of quality plans in keeping with changes in manufacturing processes and product designs.
- Support and implement design enhancements within engineering and cost parameters that will facilitate quality and process efficiency.
- Ability to work in a team environment. Including a demonstrated ability to organize and track projects.
- Conform with the organizations ISO 9001 & 14001 requirements.
- Promote and maintain safety in the workplace. Observe established safety regulations and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) or equivalent from four-year college or technical school required, preferably Quality, Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering; and
- Zero to two years quality/continuous improvement experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong electrical background with hands‑on experience in electronic systems.
- Holds IPC certification for electronic assembly and workmanship standards desired.
- Basic understanding of Blueprint reading desired.
- Basic understanding of Lean Methodology desired.
Computer Skills
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office.
Language Ability
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups.
- Ability to read, to write, to communicate, and understand the English language.

- Assist the organization with establishing practices that align with ISO requirements.
Other Skills
- Other duties, as required, such as communication with and travel to customers, suppliers, trade shows and training sites.
