Challenge

EW Lachen AG is responsible for reliably supplying power and water in the Lachen service area. As an operator of critical infrastructure, security is a top priority for the company – especially in sensitive areas such as energy and water supply.

The extensive supply mains includes not only central buildings such as the electricity plant, lake waterworks and an office building, but also numerous transformer stations, meter boxes and signaling systems that ensure a smooth supply. As part of the modernization, around 200 locking cylinders were to be converted to a future-proof and secure locking system with different user groups.

Another important aspect is protection against vandalism, especially in publicly accessible infrastructure such as distribution boxes, which play a key role in the regional distribution network. Here it is essential that the technical equipment is optimally secured against both unauthorized access and external influences.

Solution

Together with ASSA ABLOY and the local supplier, an optimal locking system was set up based on a user analysis. VERSO CLIQ is an intelligent locking solution that optimally combines mechanical and electronic locking components. The CLIQ technology used meets the highest safety requirements and is particularly suitable for protecting the critical infrastructure of the energy and water supplier EW Lachen AG.

In addition to the high level of security, easy installation also played a decisive role. As the locking cylinders are controlled by keys, no additional wiring was required – an important advantage that avoided additional costs.

Individual access rights can be conveniently assigned via the CLIQ Web Manager management software by using the microchip integrated in the key. If a key is lost, access rights can be revoked quickly and easily via the software.

Thanks to the modular design of VERSO CLIQ, a wide range of components can be flexibly combined. For example, the use of cylinder covers significantly reduced the contamination of cylinders by chewing gum on distribution boxes.
