An electric strike opens doors at the touch of a button, without the need for a key. After an electrical impulse, for example via an intercom system, access card, or app, the electric strike releases the lock latch in the door frame. The person then simply pushes the door open and enters. This makes electric strikes ideal for apartment buildings, office buildings, or industrial facilities where convenient access and security control come together.

A door closer closes the door automatically after opening without manual assistance. The closing force and closing speed can be adjusted to ensure both smooth and reliable door closing. This is essential, especially in areas with frequent traffic.

FaFix refers to an adjustable latch on the electric strike that can be adjusted by a few millimeters. This makes installation easier, as installers can flexibly adapt the electric strike to different installation situations. ProFix goes one step further, combining a FaFix electric strike with an integrated latch bolt guide. This design standardizes the frame opening and speeds up installation considerably – particularly practical for larger construction projects with many doors.

The electric lever is a mechanical emergency opening that unlocks the electric strike without power. It works similarly to a daytime function: during opening hours, the electric lever keeps the door permanently passable without requiring an electrical signal each time someone passes through. This is particularly practical in commercial areas or where there is frequent public traffic. Activated with a single movement, the door then opens and closes like a normal door without an electric lock.

There are three main categories: overhead door closers are visibly mounted on the door leaf or frame, concealed models disappear completely into the door leaf or frame, and floor spring door closers are installed flush with the floor. There are also slide track door closers for particularly easy opening and security door closers with integrated locking.

Most door closers have adjustment screws for closing force, closing speed, and latching action. Use an Allen key to adjust these parameters directly on the device. Important: The setting should be suitable for the door size and area of use. Insufficient force jeopardizes fire safety. Too much force makes it difficult to open the door or causes the door to slam shut.

For fire doors, you need door closers with corresponding EN certification. They must generate sufficient closing force to reliably close heavier fire doors. Pay attention to the marking for fire and smoke protection doors as well as compatibility with the respective door size and weight.
