Electric strike 118: one design, many areas of application
The electric strikes in the 118 model series combine compact dimensions with impressive versatility: operating current, quiescent current, locking, monitoring contact, electric lever, and plug-in connections in a design suitable for almost every door situation.
With a break-in resistance of up to 9,000 N, VdS approval, and 250,000 tested cycles in accordance with DIN EN 14846, effeff electric strikes deliver exactly what matters most: security, reliability, and flexibility. Discover the Electric strike 118 family for private, commercial, and public areas.
What is the effeff Electric strike 118?
The electric strike in the 118 model series is the universal solution from the effeff brand for electric strikes, developed and produced by ASSA ABLOY. With dimensions of 66 × 16 × 25.5 mm, the Electric strike 118 fits into almost any installation situation and is available in four operating variants:
- 138 = Quiescent current: Electric strikes with quiescent current lock when power is supplied. If the power supply is interrupted, for example by a switch, the door can be opened.
- 148 = Switching lock: These electric strikes also unlock when power is briefly supplied, but do not have a locking pin in the electric strike latch.
All models are available as ProFix2, ProFix1, or without a latch bolt guide.
More than just an electric strike: the advantages of the effeff brand universal solution
Simple to install and adjust
With compact dimensions and a radius keeper, the Electric strike 118 minimizes the usual cut-out in the frame for the latch to open. Optionally available with ProFix2, the cut-out in the frame is entirely omitted. Thanks to FaFix, the electric strike can be subsequently adjusted to the latch striker plate, with an adjustment range of 3 mm.
High level of break-in resistance for increased security
With a break-in resistance of at least 3,750 N and up to 9,000 N, the Electric strike 118 effectively protects against tampering and burglary attempts. The robust security technology meets the safety requirements in private, commercial, and public areas.
Compatible with all striking plates on the market
The Electric strike 118 is compatible with all striking plates on the market, including striking plates for plastic profiles. This makes it easy to combine and install.
Versatile electric functions
With a convenient plug/clamp connection and a bipolar protection diode suitable for direct and alternating current, the Electric strike 118 ensures optimal protection for connected electronic devices. The optionally integrated monitoring contact reliably informs a higher-level system whether the door is open or closed.
Tested quality in accordance with DIN EN 14846
The Electric strike 118 has successfully passed an endurance test of 250,000 cycles and meets the requirements of DIN EN 14846. It also has VdS approval, which guarantees high quality and security.
A wide range of accessories
With preload electronics that improve the preload characteristic to at least 300 N in DC operation, the electric strikes provide outstanding performance. A dummy component with an electronic lever and different cable lengths provide maximum flexibility and versatility.

Areas of application for the Electric strike 118
Standard applications
The standard electric strikes from the 118 model series are used on wooden or metal doors. Typical application examples include apartment entrance doors in apartment buildings, office doors, and entrance doors in commercial buildings. ProFix2 models are available.
Fire doors (118F)
The Electric strike 118F for fire doors has a radius keeper, FaFix adjustment in 0.5 mm increments, universal voltage ranges, a bipolar diode, and a symmetrical design in the standard configuration. The electric strikes can therefore be used on the DIN left and DIN right as well as horizontally. Typical applications: fire compartment doors in industrial and administrative buildings, stairwells, and exit routes with fire protection requirements.
Smoke protection doors (118S)
Electric strikes for smoke protection doors from the 118S model series are available with ProFix1, ProFix2, or without a latch bolt guide. The models comply with the legal requirements that have been in force for smoke protection doors since 2001. Areas of application: smoke protection doors in public buildings, hospitals, hotels, and schools.
Water-resistant electric strike (118W)
The electric strikes in the 118W model series have an adjustable latch and are ideal for outdoor use, for example on garden doors, entrance gates, or doors in humid environments. ProFix1 or ProFix2 models are available.
EX electric strike (explosion-protected areas)
These EX electric strikes are designed for use in potentially explosive areas. They are available with quiescent current or operating current as well as pneumatic openers that lock or unlock without pressure. Typical areas of application: chemical industry, gas stations, laboratories with explosive substances.
