Senior Accountant

ASSA ABLOY, the global leader in access solutions, is looking for an experienced and proactive Senior Accountant to join our finance team in France, based on the outskirts of a major city. This is a hands-on role with end-to-end responsibility for financial reporting, Statutory compliance, and core accounting activities within an international environment. You will work closely with local and global stakeholders, support audits and tax processes, and play a key role in driving process improvement and standardization across finance. This position offers strong exposure, ownership, and the opportunity to contribute to a growing, collaborative organization.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Reporting
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting cycles, ensuring timely, accurate, and efficient completion in line with IFRS and company policies.
- Oversee all aspects of accounting, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), project accounting, fixed assets, intercompany (IC) reconciliations, and tax-related activities.
- Support treasury processes, including the monthly netting of internal transactions, in collaboration with subsidiary counterparts and the Group.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with corporate deadlines, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Actively support the local Finance Manager and assist in leading both local and global projects as required.
- Analyze and present financial data to senior management for strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with local business and functional finance teams to support month-end closing processes and address any ad-hoc queries.
Audit & Tax Compliance
- Lead the preparation of Statutory Financial Statements in compliance with local French GAAP.
- Coordinate with external auditors to ensure the timely completion of the annual Statutory Audit.
- Work closely with tax advisors to prepare and submit annual Corporate Tax returns, ensuring adherence to deadlines.
- Oversee the preparation and review of VAT and other regulatory filings as required by local and international standards.
- Support internal audit activities and assist with audits and reviews as needed.
- Supervise and provide support to sub-ledger accountants and other finance team members.
- Promote professional growth and development in line with company values by mentoring colleagues and fostering collaboration across teams both locally and internationally.
Process & Systems Improvement
- Champion the standardization and automation of financial processes across the department to drive operational efficiency.
- Identify, propose, and lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize workflows and increase accuracy.
- Collaborate proactively with cross-functional teams to foster global consistency and implement best practices in finance processes.
Education and/or Experience
- Proficiency in both French and English; additional language skills are a plus.
- Experience with ERP systems such as AX2012, Oracle OneStream, or similar.
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field; a recognized professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in an international company or multi-cultural environment, ideally within a Finance Shared Services context.
- Demonstrated experience in leading projects and working collaboratively with diverse teams.
