R&D Manager Mechanical Products
Location: Rychnov, Czech Republic
Purpose of the Job:
The job holder will be responsible for delivering innovative, high-quality, and competitive mechanical lock solutions that meet customer, regulatory, and business requirements. The position oversees mechanical development activities across the full product lifecycle and ensures effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Define and lead the mechanical products development strategy in line with business objectives
- Manage and develop the mechanical engineering team
- Lead mechanical design, development, and validation of products
- Ensure robust designs meeting quality, cost, and manufacturability targets
- Support industrialization and transfer to series production
- Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and cost optimization
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards for lock solutions and internal ASSA ABLOY guidelines
- Lead technical root cause analysis of mechanical field issues
- Perform required operational activities and reporting
Applicant Qualifications:
- Degree in mechanical engineering or related field
- Proven experience in mechanical product development
- Experience in technical or people leadership roles
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design, materials, and manufacturing processes
- Ability to work effectively in an international, cross-functional environment
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- English proficiency at minimum B2 level
- Willingness to travel
