Human Resource Generalist

ASSA ABLOY is seeking a proactive and strategic Human Resources Generalist to support the growth, alignment, and operational effectiveness of the newly created Building Technology Solutions subgroup. This role will serve as the primary HR point of contact for the subgroup, partnering closely with senior leadership and people managers across multiple business units.

This person will support workforce planning activities, recruiting efforts, employee development processes, performance review cycles, and engagement initiatives. They will help ensure the subgroup is staffed appropriately and supported with consistent HR processes, including onboarding, documentation, communication, and employee support. This role focuses on helping teams operate effectively by providing day to day HR support, guidance on policies and practices, and coordination of people related programs that promote engagement, clarity, and growth.

This role requires strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to support a dynamic, fast-evolving technology organization while ensuring alignment with Commercial segment HR policies and ASSA ABLOY values.

This role is based in Phoenix, Arizona.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:

  • Serve as the primary HR liaison to leaders within the Building Technology Solutions subgroup.
  • Partner with the President, Building Technology Solutions to design and evolve the organizational structure, ensuring teams are appropriately staffed and aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Support recruiting and talent acquisition efforts, collaborating with talent acquisition partners to attract top technical, product, and commercial talent.
  • Develop and execute workforce planning, hiring strategies, and succession plans for key roles.
  • Guide leaders through performance management, including goal setting, feedback cycles, performance improvement plans, and career development paths.
  • Partner with leadership to help define roles, competencies, and leveling frameworks that support consistency and clarity across the subgroup.
  • Facilitate onboarding processes to ensure new employees’ transition smoothly and are connected to teams, tools, and subgroup goals.
  • Support employee engagement efforts, culture-building initiatives, recognition programs, and communication practices that strengthen team cohesion across regions.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers on employee relations, conflict resolution, policy interpretation, and leadership effectiveness.
  • Monitor team dynamics, workload balance, organizational risks, and employee sentiment - escalating concerns appropriately and proposing solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies, employment regulations, and ASSA ABLOY standards.
  • Develop reports and analytics that provide visibility into hiring progress, turnover, workforce metrics, and engagement trends.
  • Collaborate with global HR teams across divisions to ensure alignment, process consistency, and cross-organizational collaboration.

QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position. 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, organizational development, psychology, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of HR management experience.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes including performance management, organizational design, employee relations, and talent management.
  • Proven ability to build trust with leaders at all levels, providing thoughtful guidance and well‑reasoned recommendations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, multi-product environment requiring coordination across multiple teams and leaders.
  • Knowledge of employment law and HR compliance requirements.
  • Experience in high-growth teams undergoing structural or operational transformation.

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, ATS systems, MS Office, spreadsheets, email, and HR/office software
  • Background in supporting technology, software, or product-driven teams.

Language Ability

  • For business and safety reasons, ability to write reports and business correspondence in English and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, candidates, customers, and technicians in English.

Other Skills

  • Excellent written/oral communication, organizational and customer service skills; solid understanding of HR law in various States and Nationally.

Mathematical Ability

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several individual and manage the interactions in these situations.

While performing the functions of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, stoop and kneel; use hands, reach with hands and arms; communicate clearly and effectively.  The employee may also be frequently required to lift up to 10 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.  This position is based in Phoenix, Arizona. This role interfaces with teams distributed across multiple geographies and functions, requiring strong communication and organizational skills. Periodic travel to divisions, customer sites, events, and ASSA ABLOY offices should be expected, with domestic or international travel up to 10%.
