Mechanical Project Engineer

 

ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems, Hangar and Large Application Doors, a global supplier of entrance automation systems, is seeking candidates for a Project Engineer located in Peachtree City, GA. 

 

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Project Engineer is a part of the product application and engineering group that supports the technical operations of the North American business. This role designs custom large application door systems typically used in aircraft hangars, shipyards, rocket launch facilities, mining operations and other large door openings for industrial applications.  The workflow is typical of a design/build firm, which includes design, fabrication, and installation of doors in conjunction with general contractors, architects, engineers, and government organizations. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Collaborate with sales, project management, production, and installation to ensure customer needs are met
  • Design Megadoor systems (shop drawings, assembly drawings, bills of material)
  • Assist in manufacturing issues (e.g. design modification to accommodate supply chain issues)
  • Assist with installation issues (e.g. design modification to accommodate integration with building steel)
  • Represent the department in client-facing project engineering discussions
  • Prepare and maintain product technical documentation

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D or 3D. AutoCAD Mechanical and Inventor knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong analytical/theoretical background with solid engineering design fundamental skills
  • Experience working on projects, from specification through to execution required
  • Experience with preparing drawings for manufacturing required
  • Exceptional communication and time management skills
  • Commitment to meet schedule due dates
  • Positive, ambitious attitude 
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office products
  • Exposure to Python, C#, C++, VB, or other coding languages is a plus

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • BS Mechanical engineering or similar technical degree preferred
  • Minimum (5) years previous working experience in a technical role required.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Office environment
  • 10-20% travel to job sites
  • Prototyping / lab validation work
  • Ability to access military & restricted government facilities (required: US citizen or green card holder)

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

BS in Mechanical Engineering or strong technical degree required

5+ years of previous working experience required; additional skills & experience valued

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Office hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • Occasional travel to job sites or material suppliers
  • Ability to access military & restricted government facilities (required: US citizen or green card holder)
  • Able to lift 50 lbs, stand for periods of time, work with hand and power tools as required in test lab environment
