Sustainability is everyone’s responsibility
Our long-term commitment to a sustainable future
To realize a sustainable future we focus on:
- Sustainability program to 2025
- Setting long-term science-based targets
- Halving our greenhouse gas emissions by 2030
- Achieving net-zero no later than 2050
Now in our third program, we have set our most ambitious targets yet keep playing our part tackling the global threat of climate change. For the first time, we have a long-term climate commitment to set targets with the Science Based Targets initiative.
Science Based Targets initiative
From October 2020, ASSA ABLOY has joined the Science Based Targets initiative to further substantially reduce our greenhouse gas emissions across the entire value chain.
We believe that science-based targets will be beneficial for our business on several levels. By setting a net-zero target in line with a 1.5°C future, we are making a critical contribution to limiting the worst impacts of climate change.
- We will halve Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions in our own operations by 2030
- We will set ambitious Scope 3 emissions reduction targets
- We commit to net zero emissions across the whole value chain no later than 2050
- We have two years to develop our targets and have them validated by the Science Based Targets initiative body
Our new 2025 sustainability program
Our 2025 sustainability program complements our long-term climate commitment to set science-based targets in line with the Paris Agreement.
Operations
By committing to science-based targets, we have set long-term goals aligned to the Paris Agreement. With the new program to 2025, we are working step by step towards our long-term goals.
Supply chain management
To reach our new 2025 targets, we are working to ensure a more sustainable supply chain, focusing on supplier audits and business partner Code of Conduct.
People
Our new 2025 targets are focusing on reducing our injury rate, injury lost day rate and on becoming an even more inclusive workplace.
“Sustainability will be vital to economic and industrial development in the coming decades”
Our long-term commitment to science-based targets demonstrates our willingness to lead the industry towards a more sustainable future, and will further improve our competitiveness with sustainable products, solutions and operations.
