New Planet SD sliding seal expands portfolio for barrier-free sliding door systems

Barrier-free and comfortable without operating force

A key feature of the Planet SD is its particularly easy operation: Despite the integrated sealing rail, the operating forces remain extremely low. The system is also optimally compatible with modern comfort solutions such as soft-close or pull-in damping, as no separate activation mechanism is required within the sliding door rail. This improves functionality and additionally expands the possible application scenarios.

Compact, flexible and almost universally integrable

Thanks to its compact dimensions and variable mounting options, the Planet SD can be integrated into almost all common sliding door systems. This means that ASSA ABLOY offers a solution that sets new standards in both commercial buildings and high-quality residential spaces. Additionally, the new seal is suitable for both wooden doors and glass doors and can therefore be used universally, even for demanding architectural requirements.

Easy assembly and adjustment options

The Planet SD also impresses with its particularly user-friendly installation. The system consists of three functional components: The two fasteners on the guide rail and the sliding door are connected by the middle “floating” sound insulation element. Thanks to the self-compensating elements, the system automatically adjusts to the circumstances, which greatly simplifies the assembly. In almost every installation scenario, the door systems have to be adjusted or readjusted, as this adaptability proves to be of great added value in the event of varying heights and gap dimensions or design-related tolerances in the door movement. Reliable sealing of the upper joint is therefore guaranteed at all times without complex adjustment work or maintenance-intensive mechanics.

Another advantage is the open system design of Planet SD: Thanks to its compact dimensions and variable installation options, the innovative solution can be integrated into many common sliding door fittings and extends existing systems with a high-quality top seal without additional intervention in the track.

Planet SD is currently available in the two colour variants aluminium (EV1) and black anodised (C35) and is available in two standard lengths that can be easily shortened if required – an additional advantage for practical use.

Ideal complement to Planet SN

In combination with the tried-and-tested Planet SN drop-down seal for the lower door closure, customers now have access to a high-performance and technically coordinated complete solution that meets the highest requirements for comfort, tightness and sound insulation for the first time. While Planet SD reliably seals the upper joint against sound and drafts, Planet SN ensures a controlled drop-down seal in the floor area – just as precise, durable and barrier-free.
