Meet Michael Schmitz
Michael Schmitz, Rotational Program Associate, ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions Americas, is part of the Rotational Development Program (RDP), with a focus on engineering based in the U.S.
What do you like about the RDP?
I like the ability to be able to try different roles at different companies to help my personal development and guide me in the direction of where I want my career to go. We are not locked into a single role right out of college and have the opportunity to connect and share information between businesses.
What have you worked on so far that you are proud of?
I am proud of the equipment replacement projects I have been a part of. I have never been responsible for projects of that size, both in production impact and overall cost, so it is great exposure to that side of manufacturing engineering, as well as very satisfying when we get to see them implemented.
What do you like about ASSA ABLOY?
I really like the values and ideology of everyone in the company from the top down. Everyone including, “C-Suite” executives, are all approachable and willing to
listen, discuss and help in any way that they can. I think that mindset is crucial to helping new and current employees grow.
What do you want to do after the RDP?
I like project management and would like to be able to work on larger projects in the short term after the RDP Program has finished. Eventually, I would like to be involved in a leadership/strategic planning position for the company, once I have enough experience.
