Project Leader Intern
Job Summary
Americas Residential, a division of ASSA ABLOY is seeking a highly motivated Sustaining Project Leader Intern to work in our headquarter office in Lake Forest, CA. This role will offer you the opportunity to be a part of a global company and a market leader in residential smart locks.
We are seeking an individual who has excellent communication skills, navigating ambiguity, and being a team leader in executing electronics-based projects utilizing project management skills and knowledge areas. Must be available to work onsite in our Lake Forest office 3 days a week for our hybrid schedule – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Will be remote Mondays and Fridays.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead cross functional team, working towards the common goal of introducing new or changing products with focus on meeting key metrics including but not limited to scope, cost, quality, and timing.
- Collaborate with cross functional departments including Electronics Hardware, Software (Firmware, Cloud and App), Mechanical engineering teams, Manufacturing Sites, Industrial Design, Packaging, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, and Marketing.
- Maintain communication channels with Executive Leadership, plant management staff and functional team leaders regarding project status and network/production strategies.
- Manages/reports out on projects in all areas including budget, product costs, product quality, productivity, safety, ergonomic, environmental, space and timing limitations.
- Develop and execute project plans for sustaining projects that drive running the business by improving products, improving cost, conducting quality investigations, protecting supply chain, and supporting manufacturing process while protecting the business and customer.
- Maintain Jira/SharePoint/other tools with accurate information for each project.
Education and Experience
- Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical, or equivalent.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team, with a proactive and positive attitude
- Effective computer skills familiar with Microsoft Windows applications, especially Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook. Jira is a plus.
- Project management utilizing Microsoft Project or similar software.
- Ability to simplify and breakdown complex issues; develop, plan, and execute.
- High level of organizational skills.
Work Environment
- Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
- Hybrid work in our Lake Forest Headquarter office at least 3 days/week.
