Maintenance Technician
• Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components
of machinery and equipment.
• Set up and operate machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine
parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.
• Install, program, or repair automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers.
• Inspect buildings, equipment, and systems to identify any issues. Visually inspect and test machinery and
equipment.
• Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation
variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
• Repair faulty equipment or dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts.
• Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
• Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs
and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
• Repair and maintain physical structure of establishment.
• Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
• Fabricate and repair counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
• Participate in development and implementation of preventative maintenance procedures.
• Conduct periodic quality checks on equipment and systems as well as schedule repairs to ensure everything is up
to standard.
Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a three- to five-year apprenticeship program through an employer or trade union is a plus.
• Degree or certificate in a maintenance or technical field from a trade, technical school, or community college is a plus.
• Requires 3-5 years of related maintenance (i.e., electrical and mechanical) experience.
• Practical experience with manufacturing, assembly, and welding equipment.
• Strong experience and working knowledge of Preventive Maintenance systems preferred.
