Position Summary:

The Director & Head of Product Management will lead the overall product vision, strategy, and lifecycle management for the Assa Abloy Opening Solutions India Mechanical Core  portfolio. This role demands strong commercial acumen, a deep understanding of building product solutions, and the ability to drive innovation, profitability, and market leadership. The position partners closely with global and regional teams across Product Management, Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Marketing to deliver differentiated product offerings and sustainable business growth. The role will also shape the long-term product roadmap, strengthen competitive advantages, and mentor the next generation of product leaders.

The key performance requirements of this role would be to drive Organic Growth and Consolidated Margin improvement of the Mechanical Core Product Portfolio

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Product Leadership

• Define and lead the end-to-end product strategy—from market insight, concept development, and business case creation to successful launch and lifecycle management.
• Build and manage the long-term product roadmap aligned with organizational innovation priorities and market trends.
• Evaluate product categories and identify high-potential opportunities to strengthen growth, profitability, and market relevance.
• Drive portfolio performance analysis and recommend actions such as pricing improvements, cost optimization, SKU rationalization, and Value Analysis/Value Engineering.
• Identify and document future product introduction opportunities that support long-term competitiveness and differentiation.

 

  1. Competitive & Market Intelligence

• Develop a comprehensive understanding of market dynamics, competitor portfolios, pricing, and positioning.
• Maintain robust competitive intelligence frameworks to identify gaps, new opportunities, and innovation pathways.

 

  1. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Lead and accelerate product development initiatives in collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing.
• Manage project timelines, cross-functional reviews, documentation, and governance throughout the NPD process.
• Partner with sales, marketing, and pricing teams to strengthen go-to-market execution, category performance, and share capture.
• Support creation of marketing assets including catalogues, price books, technical documentation, training materials, and digital content.
• Conduct and participate in internal and external product training sessions to enhance product knowledge and adoption.

 

  1. Product Portfolio Excellence

• Oversee product lifecycle management, ensuring the portfolio remains competitive, profitable, and aligned with customer expectations.
• Collaborate with technical and operations teams on tooling, documentation, product support, and continuous improvements.

 

  1. Mentorship & Leadership

• Mentor and guide product managers to develop stronger capabilities in strategy, prioritization, and execution.
• Ensure adherence to corporate governance practices, regulatory requirements, and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct.

 

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Strong industry experience in building materials, architectural hardware, or commercial building products (highly preferred).
• Proven ability to translate market insights into actionable product strategies and high-impact launches.
• Strong communication and influencing skills with both technical and commercial stakeholders.
• Robust analytical, strategic, and commercial judgement.
• Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and complex product portfolios.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and structured NPD processes.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
• Passion for solving customer challenges through innovative product solutions.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field; advanced qualifications preferred.
• 10+ years of product management or technical commercial experience with a solid track record of successful launches.
