History of ABLOY
ABLOY was founded in Helsinki in the early 20th century thanks to the revolutionary idea of Emil Henriksson, a precision mechanic and inventor who, in 1907, invented the rotating disc technology for cylinders and locks.
In 1919, after Henriksson's invention was patented, Ab Låsfabriken - Lukkotehdas Oy (later Ab Lukko Oy and then ABLOY) was founded, which quickly established itself internationally in the production of cylinders, locks, mechanical, electromechanical and digital high-security devices.
In 1994, together with the Swedish company ASSA, its main competitor in the manufacture of locks, it founded the ASSA ABLOY Group, which is now the world leader in the creation of access solutions.
