Challenge

Since 2016, the Vitos Weil-Lahn health centre in Hadamar has had a new building for a forensic clinic with eight wards and a planned capacity of 162 beds. The clinic has the dual task of securing and treating patients who are suffering from addiction and have been convicted of criminal offences. Doors are therefore subject to strict security requirements. The doors must not simply open in the event of a power failure or technical problems, and they must be secured to prevent tampering. The psychiatric clinic for adults has also been in a new clinic building on the premises since 2021. It can accommodate a good 100 patients.

Solution

The doors of the clinic in Hadamar were equipped with products from ASSA ABLOY Sicherheitstechnik GmbH for both clinic buildings. Since forensics is an area with strict security requirements, the doors were secured with high-security bolts, among other things. These components meet the requirements for the special accommodation, as the high-security bolts are installed in the door frame, making them resistant to tampering. They are also indestructible and can be operated at any time, even in the event of a power failure. The doors in adult psychiatry were equipped with escape door control terminals from effeff. This way, people can leave the building as quickly as possible in the event of danger while observing the applicable security regulations. At the same time, misuse at the emergency exits is prevents. Door closers with Cam-Motion® technology have also been installed. They are highly convenient to operate and provide barrier-free opening in accordance with DIN 18040.
