Challenge:
The LWL Therapy Centre for Forensic Psychiatry Münsterland accommodates and treats 150 men who have committed offences due to mental illness or addiction. The forensic psychiatric hospital is one of the most modern clinics of its kind and was built on an approximately six-hectare site in the southern area of the former NATO airport Hopsten. The hospital is built according to state-of-the-art security standards. The entire facility is surrounded by a 5.50 metre high security fence with detection and video surveillance and has only one central entrance and exit. The internal structure within the clinic also guarantees security. Rooms and areas for occupational therapy, a sports hall for exercise therapy, a creative area, teaching rooms and a greenhouse have been created for the various therapy areas. A cafeteria was set up in a socalled multifunctional room.
Solution:
The therapy centre is accessed through the gate. An airlock system operates between the doors in this area. To achieve a high level of security, these doors are secured with high security locks 519N, which achieve RC3/RC4 burglary resistance in the door systems. ASSA ABLOY supplied the appropriate panel and escape door control system for the central release of the escape doors in accordance with EltVTR. The access doors to the station buildings, the stations themselves and the exit doors to the stairwell are doors along escape routes and are equipped with escape door strikes with high holding forces, as well as the extremely destructionproof, vandalism-proof escape door terminal 1332-70. The door is released during daytime operation via a call request or access control. The escape door strikes are activated and released during this process. The door opening time when entering is monitored by the escape door control system. The integrated DC700 door closers with Cam-Motion technology facilitate the opening of heavy access doors and meet the requirements of DIN 18040.
The Technilock L4 high-security dead bolt provides additional security for nursing staff as a fallback level in emergency situations. The interaction of the security technology enables monitored control of the doors in every situation.
