Solving problems with model 118
Whether heavy doors, special opening force requirements or continuous power supply - many everyday problems can be easily solved with variants and options of the 118 model.
Permanent current
The door should be open during the day via a timer. To do this, the strike must be permanently energized. Which variant is necessary?
Solution:
Model 118 has only two voltage variants: 10-24V and 22-42V.
At 10-24V continuous current with 11-13V; at 22-42V with 22-26V.
Combination with control electronics
Door code systems, access control or other control electronics are connected to the electric strike at the same power supply.
Solution:
Suppressor diode (suitable for both direct and alternating current) - dissipates the high voltage that occurs when switching off coils and prevents further connected devices from being damaged.
Combination with low energy components
A Low Energy swing door operator or door closer is mounted on the door. Which electric strike is suitable?
Solution:
The 118 EQ model: Electric strike with soft latch spring - reduces opening force on the door and reduces noise.
For comparison: The standard electric strike is equipped with 45N latch spring force. The 118Q electric strike has a latch spring force of 30N.
Wind pressure opens door
Wind, difference by e.g. Air conditioners or drafts push the door open during operation with mechanical day release.
Solution:
The 118EY model. The strong latch spring increases the opening force and thus the guard locking of the door in operation with day release.
For comparison: The standard 118 electric strike is equipped with 45N latch spring force. The 118EY electric strike achieves a value of 70N latch spring force. To minimise the noise of the electric strike latch with a stronger spring, we recommend the variant with noise damping.
Heavy duty doors
The installed door is particularly heavy, requires a breaki-in resistance of up to 9,000 N or is used daily by many people (more than 80 accesses per day).
Solution:
The 118F model. Its housing is made of high-quality steel and easily withstands even high loads.
For outdoor use
The customer also wants to open his garden gate conveniently from inside the house.
Solution:
The 118W electric strike. The water-resistant electric strike is IP54 tested and specially designed for outdoor use.
The special electric strike is equipped with corrosion-protected surfaces. The electric coil and the connection are completely potted and thus protected against moisture and water.
Sealing interrupted
When installing an electric strike without a latch guide (rebated door), a recess must normally be cut into the profile - the sealing is interrupted.
Solution:
ProFix - the latch guide is integrated into the electric strike, no cut-out is necessary.
Preload values at DC
In DC operation, the electric strike does not unlock because the DC pre-load values are lower than AC.
Solution:
Preload electronic assembly - improves pre-load characteristics in DC mode to min. 300N.
Unlocking with access control
The door is released via an access control. If the door closes too quickly, the strike is still unlocked.
Solution:
Monitoring contact - as soon as the door is opened, the power supply is interrupted and the electric strike is immediately locked again.
Day release indicator
It should be indicated whether the day release is still activated and thus the door is not locked.
Solution:
Armature contact - the sensor indicates the locking state of the strike
