Benefits & HR Specialist

Amarr, part of global opening solutions leader ASSA ABLOY, is searching for an experienced Human Resources professional for our Benefits and HR Specialist position in Lawrence, KS.

The Benefits & HR Specialist plays a vital role in delivering a seamless HR experience for our team. This position manages key processes across benefits administration, compliance, onboarding, records management, and employee relations—ensuring policies and practices are applied consistently and effectively. Acting as a trusted resource for employees and HR partners, you’ll help drive operational efficiency while supporting a positive workplace culture.

What You’ll Do

  • Benefits Administration:
    • Oversee all benefit programs (medical, dental, vision, 401(k), FSA, HSA, HRA).
    • Guide employees through new hire enrollment, open enrollment, and qualifying life event changes.
    • Process and track leaves of absence, including benefit deductions and status updates.
    • Audit invoices and ensure accurate billing for benefit plans.
    • Partner with the Benefits Manager on wellness initiatives and benefit communications.
    • Maintain compliance with ACA, ERISA, and other regulations.
  • Employee Support: Be the go-to resource for HR policies, benefits questions, and team member concerns.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Maintain accurate records, process unemployment filings, and ensure adherence to federal and state regulations (FMLA, ADA, ACA, ERISA).
  • Engagement & Retention: Coordinate surveys, analyze data, and execute activities that build a positive workplace culture.
  • Collaboration: Partner with HR team and Benefits Manager to deliver consistent programs and communications.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: 3–5 years in HR benefits administration.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of benefits plans and employment laws.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field preferred; SHRM-CP certification a plus.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities; proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
