Outstanding performance at Oslo’s new opera house
The new opera house in Oslo has been described as the single largest cultural-political initiative in contemporary Norway. Through TrioVing, ASSA ABLOY will integrate a variety of Group products into the massive new opera house complex.
A national icon
The new opera complex, which will open its doors to the public in 2008, will rise out of the Oslo waterfront, cover an area equivalent to four football fields, have 1100 rooms and cost more than NKR 2.5 billion (EUR 312 million). The government of Norway has stated that the building should represent the cultural traditions of the country as well as the significance of the National Opera.
TrioVing signed a contract for the sites’ 1250 doors, including 850 different combinations of door furniture in November of 2005 and work is expected to be completed in April, 2007.
Door environment integration
TrioVing faced the challenge of providing a complete, multivendor solution that adhered to strict aesthetic and functional design requirements. As well as the contract for access systems, TrioVing was asked to be the main contact for all door and access control producers, in essence acting as a complete door-environment integrator.
An end-to-end solution
To meet the challenge of a large scale, multivendor project, TrioVing offered a combination of Group products including panic devices and lock cases from Assa, a twin-key system from TrioVing and door automatics from Besam. The focus was to deliver a complete, functional solution rather than a mix of individual products.
By taking ownership for all the products it implemented, ASSA ABLOY was able to provide a complete solution that met the high standards of the new Oslo Opera House.
