Quantity Surveyor

Are you looking to develop your Quantity Surveying career within a growing commercial team, working on a wide range of construction projects across the UK and Ireland?

ASSA ABLOY is the global leader in access solutions, helping billions of people experience a more open world. We are looking for a commercially minded and relationship-focused Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Lisburn, the headquarters for our UK & Ireland operations.

In this role, you will support the commercial and contractual management of projects from tender stage through to final account agreement. Working closely with Contract Managers, Finance teams, customers, and subcontractors, you will play a key role in protecting profitability, managing commercial risk, and delivering successful project outcomes.

You'll thrive in a collaborative environment where you'll have the opportunity to build your commercial expertise, work on a diverse portfolio of projects, and develop your career within a global organisation.

What you will do as our Quantity Surveyor

As our Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of multiple construction projects, ensuring contracts are administered effectively, variations are managed appropriately, and project performance is monitored throughout the project lifecycle.

You will work closely with the Commercial Manager and wider project teams, gaining exposure across a broad range of projects and customers while developing your expertise in commercial and contractual management.

You will also:

  • Support the review of customer contracts, tender documentation, and project information, identifying commercial and contractual risks, opportunities, and compliance requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage project budgets, financial forecasts, profitability, and commercial performance across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring accurate reporting and effective cost control.
  • Manage project variations from identification through to pricing, communication, negotiation, and agreement, ensuring commercial opportunities are maximised and appropriately documented.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships, managing contractual correspondence and commercial matters while supporting successful project delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Support the negotiation and agreement of final accounts by preparing commercial justifications, recommendations, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist in the commercial management of subcontractor agreements, budgets, performance, and contract administration activities to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
  • Collaborate closely with Contract Managers, Engineering, Finance, and Operations teams to deliver successful project outcomes while contributing to continuous improvement of commercial processes, reporting, and ways of working.

The skills and experience you need

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience in a Quantity Surveying role within the construction, specialist contracting, building products, or a related industry.
  • A Quantity Surveying qualification or equivalent commercial experience, with a solid understanding of commercial and contractual risk management.
  • Experience working with construction contracts, particularly NEC contracts. Exposure to JCT contracts would be beneficial.
  • The ability to interpret project schedules, technical drawings, and construction-related documentation.
  • Strong financial, analytical, and budgeting skills, with experience managing project costs, profitability, and forecasting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and a valid driving licence, with willingness to travel occasionally to project sites across the UK and Ireland.

The ideal candidate is commercially minded, customer-focused, and confident building relationships with clients, colleagues, subcontractors, and other stakeholders. You are highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. You enjoy working collaboratively while also taking ownership of your responsibilities and delivering results independently. Experience within a manufacturing, building products, or specialist subcontracting environment, familiarity with ERP systems would be advantageous.
