Two concealed door closers for aesthetic and barrier-free building design
| With the new concealed door closers DC850 and DC870, ASSA ABLOY Sicherheitstechnik GmbH is expanding its portfolio with two solutions that combine functional requirements for safety, accessibility and compliance with standards with high design expectations. Both models are fully integrated into the door leaf and are therefore almost invisible from the outside – an aspect that is particularly important for design-oriented building projects. A key feature of both door closers is Cam-Motion® technology. It ensures a sharply decreasing opening force throughout the entire opening angle without impairing the reliable closing function. This makes doors significantly easier to open, especially during the initial degrees of movement. This benefits all user groups, including people with limited mobility, children and older people, and supports barrier-free building design in accordance with DIN 18040 and CEN/TR 15894. The DC850 is designed for single-leaf doors with a width of up to 1100 mm and covers closing force sizes EN 2–4. Thanks to its slim 30 mm housing, it is suitable for doors with a thickness of 40 mm or more. It is approved for fire and smoke protection doors and certified in accordance with EN 1154. With variable closing speed and latching action as well as adjustable closing force, the door closer can be flexibly adapted to different installation situations. Its compact design and concealed installation enable discreet integration into modern door and room concepts without affecting the appearance of the door. The DC870 is designed for larger and heavier doors. It covers closing force sizes EN 3–6 and can be used for door widths of up to 1400 mm. This model is also certified in accordance with EN 1154 and approved for use on fire and smoke protection doors. In terms of accessibility, the DC870 meets the requirements of DIN 18040 for door widths of up to 1250 mm. This makes it particularly suitable for high-traffic areas in public or commercial buildings. Both door closers can be combined with various concealed slide rails and offer optional accessories such as mechanical opening dampers or hold-open devices. Their construction, which is not visible from the outside, helps create clean lines and reduced door views – an advantage that allows functional building technology to visually recede into the background. |
