ASSA ABLOY expands security door closer® product portfolio with double-leaf version

Nowadays, there are already numerous certified door closers for functional doors, such as for fire protection or escape route doors, which are also suitable for barrier-free access and escape and rescue routes. A special option for retrofitting an existing door is the ASSA ABLOY security door closer® with integrated escape door locking. Thus, functional doors can be retrofitted with an escape route locking device without making any structural changes to the door. Now the innovative system is also available for double-leaf doors on the hinge side.

For fire protection in buildings, door closers are safety-relevant and indispensable components. Planners and fabricators are therefore responsible for complying with the building regulations as well as those of the system provider or door manufacturer during installation. The wider the range of applications offered by a door closer, the easier it is to solve the demands on the door to be retrofitted. With the Security Door Closer, ASSA ABLOY has an innovative product line on the market which enables the uncomplicated retrofitting of single-leaf and - now – also double-leaf doors.

It is the world's first door closer with integrated escape door locking. The guide rail door closer has an escape door strike and a latch lock integrated and offers the possibility of retrofitting function doors with an escape route locking device. The new double-leaf variant works in exactly the same way as the single-leaf Security Door Closer®. The new variant of the Safety Door Closer® is initially only available for the hinge side of the door.

Without drilling, milling, filing or grinding, ASSA ABLOY uses the existing drill holes for door closers according to EN 1154 (Supplement 1:2003-11). It is placed on an extended mounting plate, on which the latch lock is mounted. The door leaf itself remains technically unchanged. The guide rail is also extended in order to mount the electric strike 332. For monitoring the inactive leaf, a reed contact can optionally be attached, whereby the safe closed position can be transmitted to the control unit, e.g. at emergency exit doors.
