ASSA ABLOY expands its world of digital access with new CLIQ Readers and Updaters

As part of the popular CLIQ^® family, the new components offer ultimate comfort, protection and efficiency. The system combines a high level of electronic and mechanical security and can be flexibly adapted to the requirements of any locking system project – from a small facility to an extensive site network with thousands of access points. These access points are increasingly being used not just to open doors, but also to securely control specific third-party devices – such as electric strikes, motorised locks, barriers or lighting systems. And this is precisely where the new CLIQ^® Readers and Updaters come in: In contrast to the RFID-based stand-alone solutions used in the past, users can now integrate these access points into their CLIQ^® master key system and manage them with a single software solution.

CLIQ^® Indoor Reader – secure control with elegant integration

The new CLIQ^® Indoor Reader offers a smart solution for controlling third-party devices in a secure, reliable and visually appealing way. Available as a surface-mounted version or for custom-fit installation in a flush-mounted box, the reader blends seamlessly into conventional switch ranges. As a result, it can be discreetly integrated into existing interior designs, making it ideal for secure indoor applications. The user simply inserts the key to trigger the desired switching process; no additional turning is required.

The switching time can be flexibly adjusted between one and ten seconds, and activation can take place when the key is inserted or removed, depending on requirements. A clearly visible LED signals the status, while authorisation is displayed directly on the user key. For maximum security, the reader can be combined with a remote relay unit. The device is compatible with all CLIQ^® systems – eCLIQ, VERSO^® CLIQ and +CLIQ – and can be used with all software solutions such as CLIQ^® Web Manager, CLIQ^® Local Manager and CLIQ^® Go. This allows the reader to be flexibly integrated into a variety of management systems and used in a wide range of application scenarios – from doors through to lifts and lighting control systems.

CLIQ^® Outdoor Reader – robust, weather-resistant and versatile in use

ASSA ABLOY has developed the new CLIQ^® Outdoor Reader for outdoor use. It delivers the same convenient operation, but with enhanced resistance to weather and vandalism. With its IP65 protection category and IK09 impact rating, it is ideally equipped for demanding environments – from external doors and barriers to automatic swing doors or glass sliding doors that usually do not have a locking cylinder.

Here too, simply inserting the key is sufficient to trigger the switching process. Motorised locks, electric strikes or other electronic components can be controlled via a potential-free contact. A remote relay unit provides additional security, while the compact and modular design facilitates integration into and onto walls, posts or door intercoms – like Doorbird systems, for instance. The clearly visible LED indicates the operating status, while authorisation is indicated directly on the key. The outdoor reader thus combines robust functionality with a high level of user convenience and flexible design options.

CLIQ^® Updater – secure communication without network cables

With the new CLIQ^® Updater, ASSA ABLOY offers a user-friendly solution for updating key data in a simple and secure way. Communication between the updater and the wall programming device takes place via an RS 485 connection – without any need for network cables when used outdoors. This makes it particularly easy to install and ideal for retrofitting or decentralised applications.

The device is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use and can be operated over distances of up to 200 meters when combined with a second generation CLIQ^® wall programming device. The robust stainless steel housing protects against environmental influences, and the familiar operating logic ensures clarity for day-to-day operations. Thanks to its compact design, the updater can be flexibly integrated into door intercom systems, pillars or panels – and is also compatible with CLIQ^® Web Manager and CLIQ^® Local Manager. In addition to enhanced security, operators benefit from a cost effective retrofit option with significantly reduced walking distances compared to conventional wall programming devices.
