Challenge:
In 1979, nine districts and five non-district cities in the Oberpfalz region founded a joint association for the disposal of residual waste. This arose from the desire for a future-oriented, environmentally friendly and at the same time economical fulfilment of the statutory waste disposal obligations, as well as the intention to use the energy generated in the waste power plant as efficiently as possible. 17 association members are now part of the community. This means that the disposal area of the ZMS covers around a fifth of Bavaria. The residual waste of almost two million citizens is disposed of through the Schwandorf waste power plant.
In the past, a mechanical locking system was used on all ZMS properties. This restricted the ability to adjust access authorisations for personnel and external service providers such as fitters or temporary elevator maintenance personnel. Protected areas also require different levels of security, personalised locking type options and high weather resistance, particularly in outdoor areas. A new locking system was sought to solve all these challenges.
Solution:
The association chose a purely electronic eCLIQ master key system – not only in the waste power plant and the administrative headquarters in Schwandorf, but also in many separate buildings and plats throughout eastern Bavaria, such as waste transfer stations, a waste disposal site, a sorting plant in Bodenwöhr, a sewage sludge drying plant as well as all technical and commercial offices, gate control systems and local control points. This is because eCLIQ is specially designed for use in widely ramified and complex companies and systems.
With eCLIQ, the system receives the necessary power from a battery in the individual keys. This has the advantage that a depleting battery does not render the locking cylinder and door useless, which would require considerable time and personnel effort each time. With this solution, the key is simply fitted with a spare battery.
The system offers high protection against manipulation and intelligent break-in attempts. The keys are also extremely robust, have a waterproof casing and thus fulfil the high demands in challenging environmental conditions.
