Challenge
Founded in 1954 as AWG Glückauf, the cooperative quickly developed into a reliable partner for housing provision, primarily for employees of the potash mining industry in Sondershausen in the years leading up to 1990. Today, the cooperative's focus is on renovation and modernisation. It owns around 1,100 apartments, primarily located in the centre of Sondershausen but also in the Grossfurra district. Further apartments are located in the Göllingen district of the Kyffhäuserland municipality. For this purpose, the housing association was looking for a flexible, digital locking solution. The focus was on the following aspects: The locking cylinders should be flush-mounted and not contain a battery. The installation should be straightforward, based on a modular system, and the handling when closing should be as intuitive as possible.
Solution
At the beginning of 2024, the first step was taken by equipping the administrative office with the electronic eCLIQ locking system from the IKON brand. The system impressed with its compact design, robust technology, high security standards, and modern appearance. Operation still requires a key containing a commercially available battery – the locking cylinders themselves require no power source and are installed completely without knobs. This makes them less susceptible to damage or vandalism. Following its successful introduction in the administrative office, eCLIQ was also adopted for use in the first residential buildings undergoing renovation. In the current project – a comprehensively modernised residential building from the 1960s – digital cylinders have been installed in the entrance area, on the apartment doors, in the lifts, and on the door to the bicycle room.
The building is barrier-free, constructed to passive house energy efficiency standards, and fully modernised." The locking system is managed via the CLIQ® Local Manager, which enables flexible and up-to-date control of access rights. Changed access authorisations can be conveniently assigned or revoked, and deactivation of lost keys is simple. Temporary and access rights that are restricted to specific areas, for example, for technicians or service providers, can also be easily implemented.
