Challenge

The Blandine Merten Primary School is one of three primary schools in the municipality of Morbach in the Hunsrück region. Around 80 children from the districts of Morscheid-Riedenburg, Hoxel, Wolzburg, Gutenthal, Hunolstein, Odert and Weiperath attend the school. Five teachers teach the pupils in a building that has been completely modernised as part of a comprehensive general renovation. Both the classrooms and social rooms were renovated and equipped with digital infrastructure. A new lift has been installed to ensure barrier-free access for every child. On the upper floor of the building, there is also a community hall, which is regularly used by the local music club and is also available as a venue for private events. This multifunctional use was one of the reasons why the municipality of Morbach needed to reconsider the accessibility of the building. An access control solution was sought that would offer flexible use while also meeting the requirements for security and simple administration.

Solution

The decision was made to use an electronic eCLIQ master key system from IKON. This system was installed on all internal and external doors of the school and is also used to control the new lift. The decisive factors were, in particular, the simple operation and the possibility of granting individual access authorisations on demand.
A major advantage was the uncomplicated installation, as no cabling was necessary. The power supply comes from a standard battery integrated into the reversible key. This allows the electronic cylinders to be installed discreetly in existing doors without changing the building‘s appearance. The municipality of Morbach relies on the CLIQ Local Manager to manage the master key system. The software is installed locally on a PC and enables clear and efficient administration of locking authorisations. This solution offers building management a practical way to meet the different requirements of school operations and the shared use of the building by associations and private individuals.
