Challenge:
With a housing stock of over 13,000 apartments and an ambitious new residential development programme, Wiesbadener Wohnbaugesellschaft mbH (GWW) has been helping to make housing in Wiesbaden affordable for a broad range of population groups for over 70 years. Being the city’s largest provider of housing also goes hand in hand with the aspiration to make a measurable contribution to living together in urban society and city districts. Social, voluntary and civic involvement is therefore an integral part of GWW’s corporate culture, with its around 200 employees. To date, various projects have been initiated, supported and promoted, focusing on the topics of integration, participation and prevention as well as the various dimensions of sustainability. An easy-to-install, digital access solution that meets the requirements of a modern residential construction company had to be found for the entrances, communal and technical doors of all residential buildings. The new system had to be suitable for operation by all age groups and the locking cylinders needed to work wirelessly and without batteries.
Solution:
GWW decided to install the eCLIQ electronic locking system from the IKON brand, which offers modern management and full flexibility. The easy and reliable solution is characterised by a sturdy, compact construction form with durable and secure components, in addition to the usual handling when locking. All eCLIQ cylinders offer wireless operation and are battery-free, the power supply is provided by the battery in the key. This means that doors with CLIQ cylinders can also be opened without their own power supply. Another main factor was that changing access authorisations can be set easily and flexibly with eCLIQ and the CLIQ® Web Manager software solution. Lost keys can be deactivated immediately. Authorisations with time and room restrictions can also be defined, to grant cleaning staff access at specific times, for example. GWW uses the different eCLIQ keys depending on user requirements. For example, the battery-free Spark® key is stored in the fire brigade safe tube for emergencies, while the BLE Connect key enables access authorisations to be granted on site at short notice via a Bluetooth® function.
