Challenge:

The Crailsheim building cooperative was founded over a hundred years ago in the town of the same name in Baden-Württemberg not far from the border with Bavaria. Today, it is a modern, forward-looking housing company that supports and promotes its members by providing good, secure or safe socially responsible housing. In addition to around 600 cooperative-owned apartments, it manages over 2,000 residential and commercial units.

A state-of-the-art residential property with 18 residential units in Crailsheim's Schießhausweg required a flexible electronic locking solution. In addition to the main entrance and apartment doors, each cellar, technical room, bicycle shelter and garden door must be lockable with a single key by the tenant or service provider.

Solution:

Based on the building cooperative's experience gained in four properties with 32 residential units, the company once again opted for an IKON brand electronic eCLIQ master key system. 51 locking cylinders in combination with 57 keys are used here.

The benefits of the system were obvious to the cooperative: People of all ages find the robust reversible key user-friendly, something that is particularly important for older tenants. If a key is lost, the entire master key system does not need to be replaced, only the key needs to be deleted. The cost to the tenant of a lost key is therefore minimised. Technical service providers can also be given access to the common areas in predefined time windows, allowing them to work more flexibly and ultimately more cost-effectively without having to constantly hand over keys.

The locking cylinders are also battery-free, robust and suitable for flush-mounting – ideal for use in residential buildings.
