Located in the heart of Berlin's historic centre, the Humboldt Forum opened in 2020 as a modern forum for culture and science. For securing the museum, event spaces, shop and catering areas, the Humboldt Forum Foundation – as the building owner – opted for the intelligent eCLIQ locking system from ASSA ABLOY. In this video, Hans-Dieter Hegner, member of the Board of Management of the Humboldt Forum Foundation, and Tugce Caglar, Business Development Manager Public Authorities & Education at ASSA ABLOY, explain how the electronic locking system fully met the high requirements and installation criteria of the sophisticated building design.
As a place for culture, science and intercultural exchange, regular events take place in the Humboldt Forum, as do presentations of collections and exhibitions. As the premises have so many uses and are accessed by employees, service providers and visitors at different times, this was a major challenge that had to be met by the security technology solution. It was also necessary to find a solution that – in addition to maintaining a very high security standard – could be managed with ease, ensuring that as few experienced colleagues as possible had access to it via a single platform.
The video shows how flexible, fast and easy the regularly changing access authorisations in the Humboldt Forum can be set with eCLIQ. Lost keys can also be deactivated easily with the electronic locking system via the CLIQ® Web Manager management software. Area-based and time-limited authorisation for caterers and other service providers can also be programmed into the system.
Historic doors with modern security
The keys and cylinders of the modular locking solution are fully compatible with the high design standards and installation requirements of the doors at the Humboldt Forum and are virtually invisible and non-invasive when integrated into the building complex. The video also takes a look at other advantages provided by eCLIQ when it comes to upgrading security technology in historical buildings while adhering to preservation orders for listed buildings.
To date, a total of around 2,100 locking cylinders have been installed across approximately 100,000 square metres of total floor space, and around 1,300 keys have been issued. The outside properties of the Humboldt Forum Foundation have also been integrated into the new electronic locking system and are now conveniently managed via the same platform.
