It is estimated that more than 80% of a product’s environmental impact is determined by its design. Hence, getting it right from the beginning is better than trying to improve an existing product.
ASSA ABLOY’s approach is to embed sustainability in product development from the very start. Only by understanding the full life-cycle impact of each solution, can we truly tackle the embodied and operational carbon within our built environment. This approach demands new ways of thinking, creativity and a systematic approach that reviews all potential environmental impacts.
Energy efficiency and energy-saving performance are both core goals when we develop new products and solutions to contribute to our customers’ sustainability targets. For example, our energy-harvesting, key-based access control solution ASSA ABLOY PULSE significantly reduces energy consumed during use, when compared with equivalent access control devices.
Our aim is to develop new concepts which are innovative in the way they solve specific problems. Through these solutions, we bring value to customers while also promoting more sustainable solutions and processes.
