The New & Improved ES8100 V-Lock

With upgraded components and rigorous testing, the ES8100 attains and exceeds the highest industry standards. It has unrivalled features and specifications providing a robust solution for the unique applications that require an innovative lock style.

“We did quite extensive VOC about what installers and end users wanted to see in this product. As a result, we have added considerable new features and made it easier for the V-Lock to be configured out in the field”, says Rod Raatjes, Technical Product Specialist, ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions.

Designed and assembled in Australia, it incorporates many improvements over its predecessor, including simple one-step, PTO/PTL onsite configuration; door position monitoring; increased door misalignment correction from 7mm to 12mm; integrated LED lock status and diagnostics visual indication; and an IP53 rating for external door applications.

“The LED is a great new feature,” says Rod. “It not only shows the lock status, it’s also utilised for diagnostics. So if there is a problem like not enough voltage reaching the locking device, the LED will flash a certain colour to indicate and isolate the issue.”

Improvements have also been made to strength and durability, including a much higher pre-load rating of up to 100kg (in 3-wire mode) and 1000kg static holding force. It has been durability tested to 500,000 cycles while unlocking a 12kg sideload. Although completed redesigned internally, the new ES8100 V-Lock still retains the original ES8000 lock body and faceplate footprint, allowing a direct retrofit to the original ES8000 model.
