Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank needed to address the growing customer needs for “anytime, anywhere” banking access throughout the country. To do this, the bank needed a convenient and innovative integrated authentication platform to secure its internet and mobile banking, while also offering a flexible, future-proof framework for adding multi-factor authentication to respond to current and evolving online threats.

HID Global helped Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank implement two-factor authentication for its innovative mobile banking solution. This deployment of HID Global’s ActivID Authentication Appliance was a critical component for providing customers with peace of mind when accessing banking services from anywhere and from multiple devices. It also strengthened Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank’s multi-channel strategy by applying consistent security across multiple service channels, thus adhering to common best practices for online banking.

Additional facts about the project

• The HID Global solution allowed Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank to centralize credential management across a broad range of users and device types, and provided the path for implementing a risk-appropriate platform to address rising online malware threats.
• As adoption of service channels such as mobile banking continually increase, HID Global’s ActivID Authentication Appliance is expected to give the bank a significant return on investment.
• Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank currently has 75,000 retail and corporate internet banking users, and 25,000 retail customers using its new mobile banking service.
