ASSA ABLOY jointhe Science Based Target initiative

From October 2020, ASSA ABLOY has joined the Science Based Target initiative to further substantially reduce our greenhouse gas emissions across the entire value chain. The Group is committed to setting targets that are aligned to the Paris Agreement, limiting global temperature rise to 1.5°C, by halving emissions by 2030 and reaching net-zero by 2050.

Sustainability will be vital to economic and industrial development in the coming decades. Our long-term commitment to science-based targets demonstrates our willingness to lead the industry towards a more sustainable future, and will further improve our competitiveness with sustainable products, solutions and operations, says Nico Delvaux, President and CEO, ASSA ABLOY Group.

How the Science Based Target initiative will influence our operations

To be able to fulfil the initiative, ASSA ABLOY is launching a new sustainability program with targets for 2025. The program is built on earlier initiatives from the previous successive 5-year sustainability programs since 2010.

We believe that the Science Based Targets will be beneficial for our business on several levels:

  • We will halve emissions in our own operations by 2030
  • We will set ambitious Scope 3 emissions reduction targets
  • We commit to net zero emissions across the whole value chain no later than 2050
  • We will have two years to develop our targets and have them validated by the Science Based Targets initiative body
