ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems and ASSA ABLOY Americas help Earth Rangers practice what they preach.

The Earth Rangers Centre in Toronto, Canada, is an educational facility where children can learn about our environment, our ecosystem and how their behavior can help protect life on earth. But poorly sealed doors on the exterior of the building were having a negative impact on the environment.

Earth Rangers worked closely with ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems and ASSA ABLOY Door Security Solutions to source doors, frames and hardware that contribute to an environmentally conscious structure.

ASSA ABLOY Door Security Solutions installed a Trio-E door by Fleming for improved building insulation. The employee entrance is secured with an Adams Rite deadlatch. A Besam SL500 EcoDoor replaced a leaky revolving door in the front entrance to save energy and improve the comfort of the reception area. The Besam SL500 is equipped with features that radically reduce air infiltration and provide improved sealing that can reduce air infiltration by as much as 40 percent.

Today the Earth Rangers Centre is an extraordinarily efficient facility, thanks in part to the solutions from ASSA ABLOY. It uses 90 percent less energy than other buildings its size, and integrates innovative water, energy conservation and comfort strategies. The building is double LEED certified – Gold and Platinum – and is the highest rated LEED facility in all of Canada.
