HID Global announces new eco-friendly product portfolio

HID Global, trusted leader in solutions for the delivery of secure identity and access control, recently announced an expanded focus on green products and partner solutions for commercial and government organizations worldwide.

HID Global is dedicated to reducing the environmental impact of its operations and products – such as smart cards, readers, access control solutions and printers – by driving technology innovation that helps its partners and end customers around the world achieve environmental sustainability.

Towards that end, the company will demonstrate its eco-friendly smart cards, readers and printers and access control solutions, as well as energy-efficient partner solutions that use Genuine HID technology, at ISC West 2011 at the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, from April 6-9. HID will also preview additions to its portfolio of sustainable offerings, including its next-generation physical-access control technology platform with intelligent power management for lower energy consumption, as well as its ENERGY STAR-rated FARGO printer/encoders.

HID Global’s new sustainable product offerings help customers meet government standards for environmentally preferable purchasing and address new building construction requirements that assist organizations in reducing their energy consumption,” said Brad Jarvis, vice president of Strategic Product Initiatives with HID Global. “Through technology innovation, lean corporate initiatives and sustainable business practices, HID continuously works with our partners and customers towards the collective goal of minimizing environmental impact.”

New green Genuine HID products include the next generation of access control (iCLASS SE), ENERGY STAR-rated FARGO Direct-to-Card Printer/Encoders and cards made from BioPVC that biodegrade five times faster than standard PVC.

HID Global is also committed to developing green products through partnerships. Examples of these include solutions for PC logon, secure print-authentication and electric-vehicle charging.

Other green initiatives the company is pursuing include eco-friendly packaging for future products, environmental-management certifications such as ISO 140001, and lean initiatives for continuous process improvements that promote green business practices.
