Lydia Wong, Australia

“The graduate program has so much to offer in a short amount of time because ASSA ABLOY is a multinational company.”

With a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Lydia says: “The program was my entry point into the engineering industry and I wanted to try working in different departments to learn as quickly as possible.”

Lydia was certainly given that opportunity. “I was able to work with the product development team, product manager’s team, and the production engineering team.”

The program included hands-on involvement with several projects, including layout changes on the factory floor to improve efficiency and reduce costs. “I interacted with almost all the operators on the factory floor and many other employees in different departments and learnt so much from this,” Lydia says.

“Everyone in my batch of the graduate program was also given the opportunity to work overseas for a few months in another branch of the company. I was posted to ASSA ABLOY Group brand iRevo in South Korea and I have very fond memories of the people there and I learnt a tremendous amount about their culture.”
