Roland Büsser’s career is an impressive example of continuous development and career advancement at ASSA ABLOY. Over the course of more than 20 years, he has held numerous positions, including managing project support and coordinating order management processes. His latest career step to the position of Head of Customer Service had been planned for some time and went into effect in October 2024. In this role, he is responsible for the technical and personnel management of the team leaders at Customer Service Richterswil and manages projects for process optimization. A particular focus of his work is on the further development of the skills of his team leaders and their employees as well as targeted training in products and processes. He is also actively involved in day-to-day business, especially in times of scarce human resources. An important goal of his work is to strengthen the cooperation between the four teams at Customer Service Richterswil in order to build a high-performance in-house workforce.

To prepare for this new role, Roland successfully completed further training for a graduate degree as a business administrator (Dipl. Betriebswirtschafter NDS HF). Reconciling full-time work, family and advanced training over 1.5 years not only required discipline and motivation from him, but also a lot of understanding and consideration from his family, as he reports. It was also an additional challenge to return to the “school rhythm” after so many years of purely professional activity. He was helped by the knowledge that he had gained through his many years of experience as a manager. Because of that, he was able to intuitively understand and quickly internalize much of what represented theoretical new ground for his fellow students. Roland also benefits from the knowledge and experience gained in his daily work: “In addition to a keen eye for my own resources and business contexts, my ability to make quick decisions and also stand by them has improved – essential prerequisites for my current job.”

Roland’s view of ASSA ABLOY’s corporate culture in terms of professional development is completely positive, emphasizing the importance of self-initiative: "Basically, everyone has a certain personal responsibility to take care of their career. On the other hand, however, the supervisor also has a certain obligation to recognize talent and to encourage it accordingly within the framework of the opportunities."
