ASSA ABLOY has helped preserve the Sweden’s naval heritage by implementing the security systems required at the country’s finest maritime museums, including the flagship Vasa.

Swedish National Maritime Museums, part of Sweden’s Ministry of Culture, is the government agency charged with preserving the country’s naval heritage.

Swedish National Maritime Museums needed a modern security system that would function at all of its venues in Stockholm and Karlskrona.

Besides providing effective access protection to safeguard the museums and artifacts, the systems would need to allow for the speedy evacuation of thousands of visitors in the event of an emergency.

A security update has been carried out at the Vasa Museum and the Maritime Museum in Stockholm, and the Naval Museum in Karlskrona. The electromechanical ASSA CLIQ Remote system and the ASSA ARX access control system have been installed at all three venues.

ASSA CLIQ Remote allows for keys to be blocked easily, and makes it possible to give a person remote access to a locked facility. It removes the need for a key chain entirely. The ASSA ARX, which features an online reader and contactless tags, allows keys to be issued to only a limited number of staff.

Both systems enable differentiated authorization: significant where there are facilities on the premises to which few people are allowed access.

The security solution provided to the Vasa Museum includes by ASSA ABLOY’s emergency bars on the entrance doors and panic bars on the doors in the hall housing the magnificent 17th-century warship.
