ASSA ABLOY Hospitality's locking systems keep UK students safe


ASSA ABLOY Hospitality recently completed installation of its locking systems at two private residence halls owned and managed by the renowned Opal Property Group in the UK, enhancing security and access control.

Opal Property Group in the UK has installed theVISION locking system was installed at all 302 student apartments of the Opal One Nottingham building, while the advanced VISIONLINE wireless RF-online locking system was installed in the Opal One Exeter building.

VISION by VingCard provides reporting capabilities to enhance the property's security, with all access logged to ensure that anyone entering or leaving the building and its secure areas is automatically documented.

VISIONLINE by VingCard, meanwhile, features standalone electronic locks that communicate with a central property server via online radio frequency, eliminating the need to manually encode key fobs, cancel master access tools and manually monitor the battery life of each individual lock.

Opal One Nottingham is located close to the Jubilee Campus of the University of Nottingham. Student accommodations range from individual studios to flats for up to six people, each with free Internet access and en-suite bathrooms. The residence hall boasts a comprehensive security system; in addition to VingCard’s VISION locking system monitoring access to each apartment block electronically, the complex features 24-hour onsite staff presence.

The second residence hall, Opal One Exeter, is a short walk from the main campus of the University of Exeter Streatham. Student accommodations range from individual studios to flats for up to five people. There is a total of 219 student apartments and many of the units contain kitchenettes and oversized bathrooms.

For added security, both halls feature a substantial closed-circuit television monitoring network.
