Parcel delivery made easy with digital door lock

Postal packages can now be delivered safely inside customers’ doors thanks to a new secure method devised by ASSA ABLOY and PostNord.

More and more households are enjoying the benefits of shopping online. But it’s no good if you then have to wait at home for a parcel to be delivered. With digital locks from Yale Doorman, it is possible to have parcels delivered inside the front door. 

ASSA ABLOY and leading Scandinavian postal service company PostNord are initiating an Inhome Delivery pilot project along with e-retailers Jollyroom, Apotea and Komplett, with 100 households in Lerum, a town east of Gothenburg in Sweden.

When making an e-commerce purchase, customers simply choose an option for home delivery inside the front door. PostNord’s driver automatically receives a single-use code for the Yale Doorman digital door lock to open the door. For added peace of mind, the householder receives a notification by phone when the door is closed and locked.

“With new and innovative products, such as our Yale Doorman lock, our customers will have the opportunity to simply and securely avail themselves of different services without having to be at home or available at particular times,” says Kristoffer Wadman, Director Business Development at ASSA ABLOY Scandinavia. “We’re seeing great demand from both companies and households for solutions that make daily life easier.”

“We’ll now be able to deliver items inside the front door in a secure way,” says Johan Hellman, Head of eCommerce at PostNord. “The recipient doesn’t need to be at home or be available at a particular time, which makes it both simple and convenient.”
