VingCard Marine and TrioVing has supplied the world’s largest cruise ship – Royal Caribbean International’s newest ship, the Oasis of the Seas – with locks and a master key system.

The ship recently arrived to her home port of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida following a 14-day transatlantic crossing from STX Europe’s shipyard in Turku, Finland.

The ship’s 2,706 staterooms as well as all officer and crew cabins are equipped with VingCard locks. In addition, the entire ship has a TrioVing master key system with a total of 3,700 system cylinders.

At 225,000 tons, it is the largest passenger ship built to date. It beats the former record holder, Freedom of the Seas, by 71,000 tons, which is a considerable cruise ship in itself.

Oasis of the Seas can carry 6,296 passengers and has a crew of 2,165 from more than 70 countries.

A sister ship, the Allure of the Seas, will be delivered late 2010.
