ASSA ABLOY part of the new healthcare aesthetic Drab and dreary hospital rooms are a thing of the past. The Green Patient Lab 3.0 showcases the future of healthcare facilities and is giving ASSA ABLOY the opportunity to be a part of the new aesthetic. Created by architectural firm Anshen + Allen, the lab envisions patient rooms as private retreats that promote healing, while incorporating environmentally-friendly building practices. This aesthetic was influenced by the Evidence Based Design healthcare movement that seeks to improve care through beautiful, green, quiet, private, safe and clean patient surroundings. The concept room is being shown at architectural and healthcare trade shows across North America, highlighting the merits of smart design. And ASSA ABLOY products are an important part of it. Sandy Matheny, architectural development manager for ASSA ABLOY Door Security Solutions, says the model room is a valuable sales and marketing tool. “The Green Patient Lab celebrates and protects patients and the environment; it successfully balances innovation, technology and aesthetics through intelligent design,” Sandy says. “Our participation connects us with design and healthcare professionals who specify and rely on our products. Very simply, that connection makes creates viable business opportunities.” Products used in the room include GRAHAM flush wood doors, CECO hollow metal frames made with a high percentage of recycled material, the CECO Privacy Sidelite doorway, McKINNEY hinges, and SARGENT mortise locks with roseless trim.
